TV hammer at Aldi! Discounter sells 2-meter televisions for 1,100 euros

Screen diagonal more than 2 meters: On February 25, the projector will present an 82-inch 4K TV. It can only be bought online – the company even remembers when the offer started.

It’s one of the largest smart TVs Aldi Süd has ever bought: the Medion X17882 measures 2 meters (82 in) diagonal, offers HD resolution and costs just under 1,100 euros – in the size class that’s a real bargain. Accordingly, the discount on his online store indicates that the offer is valid from February 25 at 8 AM – and only until stock lasts. Significant demand is clearly expected.

Interested customers can order the device in the online store. Aldi Süd promised delivery within ten to 15 working days. However, buyers should bear in mind that the XXL TV also needs a similar large living room so that the seat spacing is correct. Otherwise, the big screen is more of a headache than enjoying a movie. Alternatively, Aldi is also offering a smaller 65-inch TV at the same time.

What does Medion X17882 offer?

The Medion X17882 is only a luxury TV in terms of size. The rest of the equipment is more compatible with the middle class. The screen is based on classic LCD technology with LED backlight. Resolution is 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Viewing HDR content is supported. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range – a technology that promises to improve display contrast. However, the Medion’s maximum brightness is only 350 nits per square meter, making the advantages of HDR on this TV fade out once more. Medion advertises with 5,000: 1 static contrast and 10,000: 1 dynamic contrast.

And one more thing that catches the eye: while the TV itself should have an energy efficiency class A, only the panel’s energy efficiency is rated G according to the product description. According to the manufacturer, this was a product detail error that has since been corrected. Accordingly, the TV has an energy efficiency class of A, as power consumption is highly dependent on usage.

In addition to a triple TV tuner (DVB-T2 HD, DVB-C and DVB-S2), 4K TV provides an interface for CI + and a WLAN module. A personal video recorder (PVR) for recording broadcasts is already built in. Users just need to connect a USB drive or an external hard drive. There’s also a Gigabit Ethernet port, three HDMI, three USB, VGA, and more. Audio devices can be connected via jacks, among other things. Bluetooth is not supported.

Aldi Nord is selling the smaller Medion X16596 with 65 inches (163.8 cm) for as little as 580 euros, also from February 25th. Not only HDR but Dolby Vision is also supported here. The device also has a built-in subwoofer. Both are missing in the larger model.

The article was supplemented with an indication of the error in the energy efficiency category.
