As the new country woman of the year, this parameter is overwhelmed with feedback: “I had to set my cell phone to flight mode”
The winner of the “SRF – bi de Lüt Women’s Country Kitchen” is Sonja Vogt-Meyer. The 53-year-old defeated her rivals in the 15th season of the cooking show. How did those around you react to the title and what the Joker intends to do with the prize money.
“The rush to sell this Christmas tree was too big,” explains Sonya Vogt-Meyer, the newly elected Country Woman of the Year. On Saturday after broadcasting the grand finale of the “SRF – bi de Lüt country woman kitchen,” Vogt-Meyer and her husband Daniel, who run a farm together in Scherz, were at a traditional Christmas tree sale. Sherzer native says:
“We watched the final in a short space of time between preparatory work with our children.”
The last broadcast of the fifteenth season of Women’s Country Kitchen was broadcast on Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) on December 17. The show was filmed three weeks ago, Vogt-Meyer reported. Accordingly, the Vogt couple waited for a large number of customers at the Christmas tree sale.
Because of the congratulations, the country woman had a sleepless night
Congratulations on their victory didn’t keep them waiting until the next morning. Immediately after the broadcast, Vogt-Meyer’s mobile phone rang and shook endlessly. “It was very easy to get a lot of feedback right after the final,” she says happily. “Because I still had a lot of work to do, I had to put my cell phone on flight.”
The night before the sale, the stall had to be set up and most of the produce had to be prepared fresh. Vogt-Meyer reports:
“I wanted to bake Christmas candy, meringues from the wood-burning oven and bake fresh.”
When she turned on her phone again, the 53-year-old says, she received more than 200 WhatsApp messages and hundreds of reactions via Instagram and Facebook. “I had to work a night shift to answer all the messages.”
The high school teacher explains, “So that there was time to talk to people the next morning, we stopped helping.” The Christmas trees and fresh produce on display were very popular. “It all went really fast,” Vogt-Meyer says happily. “That was a great reward for the hard work.”
She was not just surprised to win
Vogt-Meyer is glad the cat is out of the bag. “It was hard to keep the secret to myself for so long,” she explains. Until the finale aired, she had to hold back the joy of being named “Lady of the Year.” The high school teacher at Bear School, where she teaches English and economics/work/home, says with a laugh:
“Quietly and discreetly to myself, I just had to scream Wow every now and then.”
Before becoming a student, she could keep her “poker face”.
She was “absolutely surprised” by the result. You thought it might be enough for third, so Vogt Meyer. “After the breakup of the second and third grades, I bowed my head.” The surprise was even greater when presenter Nicole Berchtold announced that Vogt-Meyer had received the most points for her roster out of her six teammates, and thus was the 15th season winner. “Plus, the clip art cannons scared me,” Vogt Meyer adds with a laugh.
Vogt Meyer’s father almost missed it
Before the final, there was a bit of a shocking moment. Her father almost missed the broadcast. “A quarter of an hour before the broadcast I called him and said he would have to turn on the TV soon,” Vogt-Meyer explains. She explains that he recently moved into the seniors’ apartment, and has not yet been able to turn on the new TV.
Fortunately, one of his granddaughters was able to run the machine with him. “It was kind of a fire brigade training,” Vogt-Meyer remembers, laughing. Her father later said:
“Now I know why you really want me to watch the show.”
It will be used again during the festive season
In addition to the title, Sonja Vogt-Meyer was also able to return the prize money of 6,000 francs to Scherz. The 53-year-old doesn’t yet know exactly how to use it. “We’ll definitely invest a portion of it in family ski vacations,” she says. She also likes to give her three children a “corner”, because her two sons Pascal and Sebastian and daughter Catherine gave her a lot of support during filming, as did her husband Daniel.
With her family, Vogt-Meyer wants to relax a bit after the tough weeks. “We’ll go skiing sometime after Christmas.” But on the holidays, the situation again becomes stressful for the mother of three children: “I will cook for relatives on December 24 and 25.” The list is still pending. “I have to deal with it this week,” Vogt-Meyer says.
