The new operating system heralds the end of support for some devices

Apple is notorious for doing a lengthy update to maintain its hardware. However, with each presentation of the new system, some devices are no longer supported.

According to a current rumor, the upcoming iOS 16 for the next generation of iPhones and iPads will not offer support for Apple devices with the A10 Fusion SoC. This means that the Cupertino-based company will stop supporting the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and iPhone SE.

In addition, support for the iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad 5th generation as well as iPad Pro 1st generation will likely cease to be supported, as these devices will no longer be updated to the latest operating system.

If the rumors about the discontinuation of the aforementioned products prove true, the iPhone 6S update period will be more than seven years, but it still looks very good compared to most Android devices. After that, the iPad mini 4 was provided with updates by Apple for five years.

Apple is expected to provide iOS 15 devices with security updates for at least another year. The announced feature update will not be rolled out only to devices. So the devices should be usable without major concerns for up to a year after the release of iOS 16 until the fall of 2023.

The information from iPhoneSoft is said to come from a pre-release version of iOS 16, as usual, unverified information should be treated with caution.
