The new Oculus Quest feature expands the headphone’s Guardian mode by allowing you to mark the real sofa as an object being viewed in virtual reality. The Guardian is an Oculus security feature that allows you to draw lines around your surroundings that act as virtual borders and appear in virtual reality when you are very close to the edges. This sofa placement marks the first time that Guardian has been more than a simple measure of floor space.
Download Reports You can differentiate the sofa or chair by touching one side and dragging a virtual blue rectangle over it to select the correct size. Once done, it will appear as a 3D sofa in the Oculus main menu environment, or a blue rectangle when using the Guardian feature in an app or game, and its location will be saved as part of the Guardian system.
What sets it apart is that the sofa can now function as an extension of your Guardian system rather than as an obstacle to your space. Previously, you had to draw the Guardian’s boundaries in front of the sofa as if the room above was a solid wall so you wouldn’t accidentally enter it. But now when you walk over the edges of The Guardian and see the sofa outside, Download According to reports, you can sit on it and ask to switch to “couch mode” so the game or app knows you’re sitting.
This feature is still very handy, although it was listed as “beta” in the task settings menu as part of Software release 26 and has not yet been rolled out to everyone, including us.
