On Thursday afternoon, officials noticed a 55-year-old driver on the Tudor Hughes Bridge who was using his mobile phone while driving. At the subsequent examination, the driver hands over his foreign driver’s license from outside the European Union. However, since the 55-year-old has been living in Germany since 2020, he needs an EU driver’s licence. Since he does not have this, there is driving without a license.

Police note:

Driving licenses from so-called third countries, and countries that do not belong to the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA), must be rewritten after six months. This applies to holders of a driver’s license from the day they live permanently in the Federal Republic of Germany.
