Heidelberg Old Town (OTS)

It appears that a 20-year-old was the victim of Saturday’s hoax thieves. When the young man and his companion were walking along the pedestrian zone in the direction of Bismarckplatz around 2:20 am, the two came across a group of five men on the level of the Heiliggeistkirche. A stranger finally approached the 20-year-old and immediately stood before him. Pretending to want to take a closer look at the man’s shoes, the stranger approached the 20-year-old. At that moment, the offender apparently managed to get into the man’s pocket unnoticed and steal the mobile phone that was inside. Shortly thereafter, the group of five men moved away in an unknown direction. The 20-year-old didn’t notice his cell phone had been stolen until a few meters away, worth over €1,000.

There are currently no specific indications of the perpetrator or his companion. To date, it is only known that the offender was 25-30 years old with black hair.

The Heidelberg-Mitte police station has started further investigations and is now looking for witnesses who can provide relevant information about the offender and/or his companion. You are requested to call us at 06221 99 1700.
