A 43-year-old woman discovered on May 2, 2021 that her cell phone suddenly stopped working. She had previously received a text message with supposed parcel delivery. After clicking on the link in the message, a virus was installed on her phone. In total, this resulted in damages of approximately 170 euros.
Unfortunately, there are increasing instances of SMS fraud. Those affected receive an alleged parcel delivery message via SMS. When you next click on the alleged confirmation link, the malware is downloaded undetected and installed on the mobile phone. This malware redirects sensitive data unnoticed, spies on the contact list of the affected party, and then independently sends SMS messages containing the malware to different phone numbers, which may incur additional costs. The following is recommended for recipients of such SMS:
