Google has announced new versions of 998 of its emojis. These will be available on Android 12 when they are released in the fall.
Marking World Emoji Day, Google announced on its blog on Friday an overhaul of its emojis for the next version of Android, expected in the fall.
In a post on its blog, the Mountain View company indicated that it is an update to nearly a third of its designed emoji. Out of a total of 3521 emojis, 998 will be modified to releaseAndroid 12. However, the idea behind this redesign is not to change the design language cMicrosoft is also planning to do its own emoji, but easily recognized by the whole world.
So the pie emoji, which used to represent a slice of pumpkin pie, will now look like a whole pie. So far, the emoji of a person wearing a mask has been depicted with closed and sad eyes. This will not be the case after the health crisis. For emojis representing vehicles, Google decided to increase the proportions so they can be read more easily in a small space. This is also the case for many of the new emojis representing foods such as croissant, bacon, rice blog or shrimp pie.
Emojis that adapt to dark themes
Additionally, when users switch to dark appearanceSome emojis will be set automatically. This is especially the case with the camping emoji which will merge stars in the sky, which can only be seen on a black background.
These new emojis will be available in the fall, with the update to Android 12. They will also be integrated before that with an update to several Google services such as Gmail, Google Chat, Chrome OS, or even YouTube Chat.
