In 2020, the increase in fixed broadband and high-speed access is occurring at a rate of approximately 5% in one year, after a five-year period of between +3% and +4% per year. Thus, the number of high-speed and high-speed Internet access is 725,000 subscriptions. Like the city, growth is entirely driven by the number of high-speed accesses (370,000, +70,000 in one year), while the number of high-speed accesses is declining (360,000, -35,000 in one year).
In total, high-speed access gained 8 points in one year and represented 51% of the total number of high-speed and very high accesses, an average of three points higher than the metropolitan area (48% end of 2020).
The number of high-speed accesses is especially high in Reunion (230,000 subscriptions at the end of 2020). In 2020, seven out of ten accesses have a speed equal to or greater than 30 Mbit/s, which is 10 points more per year.
FttH remains the most widely used high-speed technology overseas, with 240,000 arriving at the end of 2020, a 34% increase in one year. Most of these entries (84%) were withdrawn in Reunion County.
With regard to FttH deployments carried out in the Antilles-Guyana region and in Réunion, the rate of actual FttH arrivals varies from 20 to 30%: 24% in Guadeloupe, 31% in Martinique, and 33% in Guyana. In Reunion, the proportion reached 47%, a level higher than that of the whole of France (43%).
