Everything looked ready to welcome Free’s new relay antenna. However, the retreat led to derailment of the project.
Free plans to install a 5G antenna in the city of Rabastens, in the Tarn region, in the Occitanie region. However, the project has recently taken a turn for the worse. “Rent bear skin before you buy it”, bothered an elected official, while the purchase of land was discussed and approved during the municipal council. However, a lease agreement has not apparently been signed.
According to an announcement by the municipality, the owner of the private land on which the 30-meter-high edifice was to be located has finally retreated. So the land is no longer for sale. “The seller of the Cavalade land, where the relay antenna was to be installed, was a victim of pressure”, the city council denounces, while the project is met with strong opposition from the residents, who are demanding its halt and the circulation of a petition. This is not the opinion of the opponents. “Maybe this guy realized he didn’t get such a good deal.”, they explain.
Purchasing a plot of land to lease to the operator
It offered free of charge three locations, in the city center, in the San Martin reservoir and finally in La Cavalade. We chose La Cavalade, which is the furthest from the city center and the school. By purchasing this land, we will be able to force us to settle there.”Recently explained by Nicholas Giroud, Mayor of Rapstens. The municipality decided to purchase an agricultural plot of 1,000 square meters for 5,000 euros in order to convert it into municipal land and lease it to the operator, thus seeing “Profitable operation”.
