Halo, a science fiction series inspired by the popular game

Featuring Pablo Schreiber in the famous Master Chief’s armor!

It took nearly ten years and some hiccups, but Halo finally landed on the small screen. The series produced by Steven Spielberg, among other things, every Monday with a new episode, promises millions of fans of the popular video game with a different and at the same time in line with the already known universe. “We decided to try to tell a new story, trying to be respectful and not hurt what was done before,” confirms Stephen Kane, creator of the series with Kyle Killen. “Our story is not radically different from the characters and settings that everyone loves. It does not disrupt the world of aura. It simply expands the possibilities of narrative and deepens the stories of the different characters.

In the nine episodes of the first season, not only The Master Chief as well as the other characters have story arcs like never before, allowing them to reveal themselves to the audience from a new angle and different light. Halo executive producers also include Kiki Wolfkill, who boasts a glorious career as a video game developer, including Halo 4. She was one of the key figures in ensuring as much continuity as possible between the video game and Paramount+ show: “There was a lot of pressure, And we felt a responsibility to satisfy the Halo fans. The gaming community played a very important role in what we did.The hope was to bring to life an aspect of the Halo world that had never been seen before, in a way that seemed believable and realistic yet new to the game.We wanted to provide a different yet familiar experience that feels like entering the world of Halo. Through a different door. We never intended to change the foundation of Halo, we responded to the needs of the story and the characters. Each change aims at the idea that the values of the show and the universe are the same as the known universe. It is a story in which Jon tries new experiences, trying to discover his true place in the world.”

Halo TV Series: When the Master Chief takes off his helmet…

Halo’s protagonist as John/Master Chief is Granite Pablo Schreiber, who is already hugely popular in other cult series like The Wire and Orange Is the New Black. John is a symbol of courage, efficiency and reliability in the most extreme situations and circumstances. Plus he definitely has a dry sense of humor. These aspects of the character are rooted in his nature and we have kept them in the series. The rest I built little by little, relying on instinct and knowing what the actor could offer for his role. I tried to demonstrate what a human can experience in the situations and events designed by the screenwriters and creators of the different episodes.”

Does that mean we’ll see an entirely new CEO? “In many ways, I’d say yes,” Schreiber confirms. “I don’t think we can compare our version of John to that of video games or novels. In our show, the audience will have to learn to get to know him again, in the same way that he himself must discover new aspects of his humanity. In short, will we finally see the face of the hero underneath The legendary Spartan helmet?” In various episodes of the first season, the Spartans took off their helmets and shields on various occasions; In the world of Halo there is no rule against it. We’re not into The Mandalorian.. If he does, he’s no longer a Mandu, right? This does not happen with us, we have no restrictions on this. Indeed, as far as John was concerned, it had to happen so quickly, that the audience would quickly relate to the emotional and psychological journey that this soldier had begun. Stephen Kane jokes: “The title of the first season could be: Take off the helmet, let’s find out who John is together!”.
