An unrepentant Porsche driver gives up his driver’s license

Bielefeld (ots) – France / Bielefeld / Thyssen – A Porsche driver tried in vain to evade a vehicle check on Thursday, September 2, 2021. The driver and vehicle can be found at a private address. His driver’s license is secured.

At about 3 pm, police officers were on patrol at the intersection of Horsteder Weg and Westerfield Street. While they were waiting in the patrol car in front of the red light in the direction of traffic toward the city centre, the Porsche turned left onto Horstheider Weg.

Both officers saw a Porsche driver holding a cell phone to his ear as he turned around. When the 78-year-old saw the police officers, he quickly lowered the cell phone. While he was still in eye contact with the officers, they signaled to him through the open window to stop. However, the man from Bielefeld continued his journey unchecked in the direction of Thyssen.

The Porsche driver accelerated sharply as the patrol car followed. Suddenly he turned without blinking on Ober Wende Street, and thus into a quiet traffic area at 30. At a speed still too fast, he drove down Am Südhang Street.

He did not react to the flashing light, the siren or the “Stop the police” sign. The 78-year-old’s unblinking path led him up with squeaking tires to Gaudigstrasse, where he drove through a daycare center at excessive speed. As police officers reduced their speed due to road construction and the local daycare center, they temporarily lost sight of the Porsche.

A short time later, the police found out how the 78-year-old had passed away. A passerby saw him turn around and drive into a garage. Another witness told the officers where the man went after he got out of his car. The police discovered various old damages to the vehicle that was left behind. The side mirror was completely missing. The point of separation was covered with duct tape.

The 78-year-old from Bielefeld opened the door at the aforementioned address. The man told officials that he was not aware of any guilt. The paid speed rating is subjective and knows the area well.

In consultation with the Public Prosecution Office, the man’s driver’s license was withdrawn around 3:45 p.m. and secured. He is prohibited from driving any motor vehicle.
