For the third time in its history, OnePlus has been caught cheating by standards. This time, the manufacturer decided to limit the performance of many widely used applications in OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

The manufacturer indicates that the performance of the Snapdragon 888 of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro has been reduced for these applications after feedback from users who want better autonomy.
Limited performance in the most frequently used applications
The problem is, on the one hand, that OnePlus never allows this restriction to be deactivated, and on the other hand, the manufacturer has refrained from communicating about it. This is reminiscent of Apple, which did a little of the same process to reduce the impact of greedy apps on the old batteries of the iPhone 6 and 6s. OnePlus clearly learned nothing from Apple’s miserable experience.
In addition, OnePlus did not limit the performance of benchmark applications, such as Geekbench: therefore, both phones showed performance in line with the Snapdragon 888 chip. But when using offending applications, the limitation is more sensitive. So Geekbench decided to remove the readings made from the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro from its databases. The platform will also check if this installation is not performed on other devices of the brand.
