Broken appliances get a second life at the Newmarket Library’s Repair Café

The Newmarket Public Library is hosting a café for hardware repair, toys, jewelry, and more on April 30th.

The event connects residents with broken items with volunteer repairers in partnership with NewMakeIt. Bring your small appliances, clothes, toys, bikes, and electronics that need a little TLC.

Although there is no guarantee to fix it, repairers will do their best and it is absolutely free.

However, there is a list of items that cannot be fixed, including sewing machines, broken zippers, hems and alterations, gasoline-powered machines, items that contain hazardous waste, major kitchen appliances, and single-serve coffee machines. Repairers may also refuse any repair at their own discretion.

The purpose of repair cafe It is giving things a second chance instead of throwing them away. It also provides an opportunity to teach people how to fix their stuff in the future.

There are some rules that guests must follow for this event. You can only bring one item and you must bring all necessary spare parts with you. Visitors are also responsible for storing and removing broken or irreparable parts.

The 11 AM and 11:30 AM slots are full, but you can register now at the Noon, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 2 PM or 2:30 PM slots. Once all registration slots are booked, you can join the waiting list at any time if another visitor cancels.
