The The original ending of the Assassin’s Creed story The protagonist Desmond Miles predicts a space shuttle escape from Earth with the intention of starting a new civilization.
Lars de Wilde, a digital media culture student, interviewed several Ubisoft developers for EuroCommer’s article entitled ‘Marketable Religion: How Ubisoft Gaming Commodified Religion for a Global Audience’. In a footnote to the article, De Wild explained that the team had an “original plan” for the end of the series, “in short, the third game will end in a clash. Currently, with Desmond Miles.” […] He defeated Upsterko using the combined knowledge and skills of all his ancestors, including AC1’s Altair and AC2’s Ezio.
Desmond will not only bring Upsterko to an end, but will also escape the end of the world – a third game will be set in 2012, which coincides with the end of the Mayan calendar – as original creator Patrice Deslette described it as “a bad spaceship”. Desmond goes to an unknown person with a friendly Lucy named after the famous Australopithecus fossil to allow the couple to act as Adam and Eve of a new civilization.
These plans appeared at a time when Assassin’s Creed was still considered a simple trilogy, and of course they never worked. Desmond’s story ended at the end of the third game, but it only happened after Ezio played his trilogy, and Desilet left Ubisoft. Lucy is no longer part of the plot, and after a total of twelve major games and consecutive spin-offs, Upsterco remains a significant opponent to this day.
