It is no secret that I got my Hero’s Academic Certificate for Trash Academy That Should Check Everything Best Boy Izuku Media My Bones Are Broken But My Mind Is Not Midoriya.
As you might expect, I was thrilled to release My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, a free mobile game that allows us to work on all of this by becoming a hero.
Full disclosure: I thought I’d have a nice little case where I could hear my favorite characters shouting their attacks, but after getting a chance to chat with Paul Goofy, Vice President of Games at Sony Pictures Television Games, and try the game for me, I was amazed at how much this has to offer the game.
“We are very excited to bring the first mobile game from My Hero Academia to fans outside of Asia,” Paul said during the game’s initial announcement. “The game is beautiful, immersive, full of action and hero.”
After the fans received an embarrassing period of time, Paul went on to talk about the history of the game: “It starts in Season 1 from a story point of view and we will advance into Season Three and beyond at the end. A lot of things happen during the first three seasons of the series, so I think it’s the beginning. Good for mobile games.
As someone who reads the manga, I really enjoyed revisiting those early parts of My Hero Academia and acting through scenes like Deku’s big You Say Run moment from Episode Two, and even how OP All Might is when we first meet him in the tunnel.
We’ll be this OP one day. I just learned.
The team was also creative at what you play, like having to walk down the street after telling All Might Deku that he couldn’t be a hero if he had no whim. You have to walk down the street, hear insulting comments about being free of weirdness.
It’s a punch I didn’t expect.
I can’t wait to find out what other details we were able to do. I want to get into the stadium a little for the sports festival, you know? Or take a walk in the woods to boot camp. I really want to get to the final part as we’re going to open Season 4 so I can tour the School Culture Festival with Erie. As much as I’m into big action moments, I love the lovable, too, so I can’t wait to find out all about 1-A Rockband’s Reaction Control.
The game captures the essence of it all, introducing those engaging moments where students can become heroes who train to do random missions, and bring important battles through story, quests and play as another online game. “It goes beyond what these devices can do,” said Paul. “However, the team worked to solve this problem based on the different capabilities of the device, to suit what your processor is and what the capabilities of your mobile device are.”
I was surprised to see a PvP (player versus player) demo about the intensity of a mobile fighting game. Characters pull in impressive combos, get shots of special moves, and what I thought was a case of frantic tapping on the screen to accomplish something ended up getting a lot more complicated than that.
This is for certain when you are playing solo.
You can improve your character (s) as you level up, gain new moves and find the best way to combine attacks to defeat your opponents. Attacks take a long time to recharge, which means you need to be careful about the attack you used and the amount of time you have before recharging the meter. Attacks also differ in their effectiveness in combat. Some, like Deku’s shooting style, work for close combat, while Kaminari’s electricity can operate from a distance.
You also need to be careful about what your opponent is doing, deciding which dribbling time or areas to avoid based on their range of move. I was amazed at how much maneuver I had to do in combat and how I could execute chain attacks in order to do the most damage. You can’t just frantically tap the screen to cry a bad guy; You need more ingenuity than that.
As you’d expect, it started with Deku, but you can unlock more characters as you progress. “It’s a Gacha system game, so there will be characters to start unlocking,” Paul said. “There will be live operations going on with many things happening every week, and new characters pull out, usually on a monthly basis.”
This means that the developers expect this to be a game that continues to provide content, and in fact, in the world of protagonist development, the work is said to be in progress. It’s like we get the parts that the show doesn’t spend much time on due to the bigger intrigues at hand. Yes, the bigger story is out there, as well as the humble little training missions where our trained heroes are tasked with properly rescuing a cat from the tree. Not all the bad guys we meet are from the league (most of them aren’t, tbh) and their crimes aren’t as big as Shigaraki or All For One, but we are silly heroes, so we have to stop one of them. Bank robbers and cash thieves (and in some cases, protecting citizens while doing so).
Also, the ability to recreate fights with people online is a huge advantage. Deku Vs Kacchan 3 in my near future. There is also collaboration, so you can create your own “Kacchan des Bakugos” team.
Did I mention the training you should take? And the decoration of the dormitory? And – … that’s a lot, all of you, there’s a lot!
It was then that I blinked and realized that I had spent my entire morning before working on my phone trying to outrun the evil octopus. This is the real danger of this game. It is satisfying to complete missions, gain new moves and get new characters. It’s especially satisfying when he’s a character that you love but doesn’t have as much screen time as the main cast on the show. Kaminari is an impudent roboticist, declaring that it will only take two seconds, honey, to win her matches (and yes, honey says). Nice to be able to level up like Uraraka, Kirishima, and Iida, the demon of absolute speed during battle.
Overall, this is a great game to add to your mobile game library, especially since it is a game that will keep updating. As the My Hero Academia series progresses, there will be plenty of opportunities to add more to the mobile game. I beg the developers for a chance to play with The Big 3, Class 1-B, Shinsou, and if they feel inclined, the bad guys.
Let me light a blue fire with DAPI, please and thanks.
