An extraterrestrial high school building has become somewhat rare today. But when it comes to a high school that is innovative in almost all points and part of a long-term approach, it’s even more exceptional.

This is what municipality features (Eure-et-Loir) who symbolically hosted this Saturday 11 December 2021 Official launch of Tomorrow High School. The key is big bets and no less big challenges!

I waited eighteen years

The architects entrusted him with it, and they had in their hands a “blank copy where everything must be invented.” And to write on this copy, they connected as many people as possible in an unprecedented collaborative process.

This High School of Tomorrow “We’ve been waiting for this moment for eighteen years” summed up Mayor Jean-Pierre Rouout.

It dates back to 2003 when it became a big problem to get high school students from Ebernon to secondary school “and go to Chartres an hour and 20 by bus!”

In 2015, a letter was sent to the Academy to account for the saturation of the secondary schools in Chartres and Drew. A site of 5 hectares, selected due to its proximity to the station, has been proposed and will be validated in 2019. This is a reduction in overcrowding at Chartres and Druis High Schools and a significant reduction in transportation time for secondary school students in the area.

Big challenges ahead

Satisfaction was legitimately compounded by concerns about the challenges to be faced “because few cities the size of Hansch would welcome such an institution”.

with 2700 people And in two years, 1200 high school students, the municipality should consider traffic issues as well as adapt networks and flexible trips to the station … But on the other hand, such a project is particularly positive for the attractiveness of the area.

The approach taken by the vice president Community Communes of the Eurelian Doors of Ile de France, Mayor of Ebernon, François Bellhom.

It was an opportunity for him to review the steps that began in 2015, in particular the choice of land between Hänches and Epernon or Drouet-sur-Drouet “where the first was chosen for its proximity to the station, gyms and the third economic center in Eure-et-Loir. It is a project dedicated to one of the best issues Which is the education of our citizens of tomorrow.”

“Response to the new land use planning”

In an area particularly close to his heart, the president of the Center Val-de-Loire district has largely welcomed the mobilization that has taken place around this project, whether it is about elected officials, decision-makers, communities, architects and professionals.

One of the great innovations lies in this participatory approach. What we are doing today is in response to the new land use planning that we are seeing with the health crisis. These institutions are the spaces of life, humanity, democracy and citizenship.

François Bono also highlighted the “model” participatory approach. I went looking for district voices, we no longer have users but representatives as well.”

Redesigned space

This high school is innovative in its environmental approach by using local materials (He drinksAnd the earthAnd chopsticksAnd strawAnd Pierre) but also in its educational approach with completely redesigned spaces for high school students.

These corridors of 50 m2 are completed with doors on the right and left. There is everything flexible according to needs, nothing fixed.

“Education is complicated today,” the district chief added, “so when you have a tool that puts education at the heart of building, that is a powerful message.”
