Ghostbusters VR announced for Meta Quest 2

In short: Meta has announced a new Ghostbusters-inspired virtual reality game designed specifically for Meta Quest 2. Ghostbusters VR will task players with creating their own Ghostbusters headquarters in San Francisco. Here players will solve a new mystery in the world of the legendary franchise – either alone or with up to three friends in the co-op campaign.

The game is being developed by UK-based nDreams, and Sony Pictures Virtual Reality is also associated with the project. The game doesn’t have a release date or ESRB rating yet, though Meta said that every game we’ve seen today will launch next year.

Even the scenes shown in the trailer do not represent the actual gameplay. Other than humor and a brief description, there isn’t much substance to the game’s landing page at the time of writing.

It’s not the only Ghostbusters game being actively developed.

Last month, US developer IllFonic announced a 4v1 asymmetric multiplayer game called Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. IllFonic, as you know, is known for creating Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds, two other asymmetric multiplayer games.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC later this year, with cross-platform play supported.
