Gigabyte Aorus 17X gaming laptop has 16 cores of the Alder Lake-HX chip and 3080 Ti graphics

Something to look forward to: Gigabyte’s upcoming flagship laptop, the Aorus 17X YE, looks like a powerful PC. In the company’s official listing that appears to have now been deleted, Gigabyte notes that this model will pair the Intel 16C/24T i9-12900HX Alder Lake with Nvidia’s 16GB 3080 Ti GPU on the HM670 motherboard. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability, although it’s safe to assume a hefty sum when the Aorus 17X arrives in the coming months.

The Gigabyte Aorus 17X’s powerful CPU/GPU combo will likely allow this laptop to make the most of the 360Hz screen when it comes to modern AAA games. The 17.3-inch IPS screen is probably the weakest part here, considering it will only have a 1080p resolution according to the company’s official listing on its Taiwanese website (404 status at the time of writing).

It also appears that Gigabyte has dropped the beans on Intel’s upcoming 12th generation Alder Lake-HX processor, the latter of which has yet to be officially announced. This makes the Aorus 17X the first laptop to feature one of Intel’s fastest mobile chipsets. The 16-core (8 performance, 8 efficiency) 24-threaded processor is said to be a 55W power-storage unit based on Intel desktop-grade silicon with a maximum turbo frequency of 5.0GHz.

Paired with this chip is an Nvidia 16 GB RTX 3080 Ti Laptop 130 W GPU and up to 64 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM. Gigabyte does not specify a maximum storage capacity but indicates that this model will have two M.2 slots that can be equipped with NVMe PCIe Gen4 drives.

Official images from Gigabyte reveal that the Aorus 17X YE is a heavy-duty machine that weighs in at just 2.7kg, thanks in part to its Windforce Infinity cooling system. Among the other connectivity options on both sides, this model will also have a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port, a mini display port, and a dedicated Ethernet port.

While the battery capacity is still unknown, Gigabyte is said to be charging this laptop with a 280W power source. And unlikely to be the most portable once it arrives, the Aorus 17X YE’s internal components certainly make it stand out in performance testing and intense gaming.
