Gundam in film and series for 2022

The conference is dedicated to Gundam This Wednesday was the occasion, between the announcement of a new giant robot in Fukuoka (the fourth) and the commemorative manhole covers project (they have a thing with that), to give up Some information on planned production for 2022. They will be three in number.

The TV series, a full movie but also a set of episodes on the show for next year that heralds the return of a true TV series, 7 years after Iron Blooded Orphans. We only know the title Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Is it the original universe, the global horn? No idea, Mercury was never significant in this saga, so fans are very curious to know what’s behind this mysterious title.

The collecting project is a 9-episode repackage of Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans scheduled for next spring. This coincides with the release of the spin-off mobile game to the world of IBO announced two years ago, Urðr-Hunt, supposed to combine animation and video games in the app. The set is supposed to include items that connect the series and the game, but we don’t know more right away.

Finally, let’s finish the project we know the most about, the movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Kokoroz Doan Island. Cucuruz Doan is not an unknown name for fans of the saga. In fact, it is about a soldier from Zion who is present in an episode of the first series.

If the story is a bit fun, this episode 15 has a serious technical consistency issue! The reason can be easily identified, as it corresponds to the moment when animation director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko left for the hospital, and was completely killed by the production of the series in which he was correcting all the drawings. Yasuhiko is a legend, and at the same time a very cool mangaka, we owe him Gundam the Origin but also an honorary director because we owe him movies like Venus Wars and Arion or the TV series Giant Gorg (unfortunately he never had it with Us). He has also done a lot for the adaptation of the Gundam the Origin anime which you can find on Crunchyroll (in the TV version) and on blu-ray in the Anime (in the OAV version).

Fortunately for Yoshiyuki Tomino (the great leader of the saga), the episode of Cucuruz Doan had no consequences for the plot, allowing him to pull it from international versions in order to erase the fatal mistake. So if you’ve seen Mobile Suit Gundam on Crunchyroll, you’ve never seen Cucuruz Doan before. More than 40 years after this story, the Hateful Front Door episode with Yoshikazu Yasuhiko is back in the making! A chance to satisfy the frustration of 40 years in the cinema this time.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Island Doan will be released in 2022 with no further information at the moment and you will be the first to be notified as soon as we get news of all these beautiful projects.
