Medicare – even games looking for a doctor

July 2001: Lunz-born Dr. Claudia Reiter takes over as Dr. Felix Berger at Gaming as the first GP in the Scheibbs area.

Summer 2021: Dr. Claudia Reiter officially informs the Games Municipality that she will finish her ordination at the end of the year and will retire. The position of physician has already been declared by the Lower Austrian Medical Association.

“Unfortunately, now is the worst possible time, as a lot of communities are looking for general practitioners and there are already two parties interested here, but they will not be able to take up their practice two years ago at the earliest,” Mayor Renate Rakowitz explained at the Jammingen Municipal Council meeting the previous week.

There, however, delegates made a unanimous decision in principle to support a new GP in any situation as much as the community could do. “In what form do we do this, we then have to look at the specific case and decide. What is certain is that we also need new coordination rooms because Dr. Reiter’s rooms are not barrier-free,” explains the local manager.
