The Medion Erazer Engineer X10 packaging is by no means typical of Aldi PC hardware: it’s in an elegant, compact case from manufacturer InWin, which can also be placed on the desk. The Medion gaming brand “Erazer” lights up blue in the front, and above it is the on / off switch and the reset button, including headphone and microphone connections as well as USB sockets.

And the Medion is also no stingy with the connectivity: on the back there are four USB Type-A sockets (2x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 2x USB 2.0), the Medion has no USB-C connectivity. The current Intel Core i7 processor is used as the drive Comet Lake S series. The i7-10700 has eight cores, and it can drive the OS to 16 compute units for better distribution of tasks using hyperthreading technology. The base clock is at 2.9 GHz, and the single core boost technology allows for a brief run of up to 4.7 GHz. The “normal” 10700 rejected a higher clock rate via Velocity Boost, as is used on all Comet Lake S-series Core i9 CPUs and Core i7-10700K and Core i7-10700KF models. Awesome: The processor is backed by an extremely large 32GB of RAM.

Shapes, objects, and game environments are calculated by a graphics card with the latest GeForce RTX 3070 chip. The RTX 3070 battles over a nail-sized 392 mm (mm) area.²Massive 17.4 billion conversions in 5,888 compute units, 2,160 less than the RTX 3080, but 3,328 more than its predecessor RTX 2070 Super. So that the RTX 3070 doesn’t die prematurely from the heat, Nvidia has lowered clock frequencies: the base clock is 1.5GHz, and the RTX 3070 can work with 1.73GHz via turbo (RTX 2070 Super: 1.61 / 1.77GHz). There is no need to increase the clock frequencies, after all, calculations can be distributed over a much larger number of cores. The RTX 3070 can transfer the computed data to 8GB GDDR6 graphics memory.

SSD with large storage space

For Windows 10 and software, Medion has a large M.2 format SSD, with fast PCI Express connectivity and an effective memory of 954GB. Great: Aldi-PC goes into the network either via network cable or wirelessly via fast WLAN-ax if the computer must be located exactly where there is no router or network connection. And Medion includes Bluetooth technology to exchange data with tablets or smart watches.

With built-in technology, the Aldi PC should also be able to display games in 4K resolution without breaking a sweat. The graphics card alone currently costs close to 900 euros due to the poor availability of the RTX 3070 chips, and the processor costs another 300 euros to label prices for only two new Alid PC components (as of February 12, 2021)
