Nvidia unveils its RTX 3000 mobile phone: a new leap in the generations

After introducing its products for desktop computers, Nvidia officially launched the new GeForce RTX 3000 for laptops.

As expected, Nvidia unveiled the new RTX 3000 graphics chipset for laptops. Besides these announcements, it is the news of its ecosystem that Nvidia focused on foremost. In fact, in recent years the company has moved away from its simple role as a chip supplier to become a true partner to manufacturers and integrates as many of its technologies as possible from one end of the machine to the other. With the RTX 3000, this entire ecosystem is what Nvidia revamps.

To celebrate the occasion, Nvidia announced that it has persuaded its partners to develop more than 70 models for gaming PCs, or for artistic creation, as they are scheduled to launch on January 26, 2021, with prices starting at $ 999.

3rd Generation Max-Q: “Resizable Bar”, Whisper mode and some AI

Max-Q is the name that Nvidia uses to designate its initiative to create thinner, thinner, but more powerful laptops. This program defines the specifications that computer manufacturers must follow, such as the Intel Evo program for example.

Dynamic Boost 2.0

Nvidia first announced Dynamic Boost 2.0, which allows the computer to manage the power allocated to the processor, graphics chip, and now video memory on the go, to ensure optimum performance. This power management is implemented the frame Close, and now it’s secretly using Nvidia’s AI algorithms.

WhisperMode 2.0

Here it is concerned with managing the ventilation of the machine to follow the user’s request. If you want the machine to be completely silent, the algorithm will reduce the performance to reduce the cooling demand and thus the internal fan speed.

Resizable tape

This is technology that has been the subject of rumors for several months. Since AMD actually declared it a franchise to own a Radeon RX 6000 with Ryzen 5000, under the marketing name Smart Access Memory. Here, Nvidia integrates the same system, and it’s actually part of the PCI Express standard.

There is talk of allowing the processor to access all of the video memory of the graphics chip to improve performance in games.

Mobile graphics RTX 3000 chipset

In addition to the manufacturers’ specifications, Nvidia unveiled new mobile graphics chips. Nvidia quickly went through each of them without providing much detail. Here are the brand’s promises.

  • GeForce RTX 3060:
    • 1.3 Poor PS5 performance
    • Up to 90 frames per second at “super” 1080p
  • GeForce RTX 3070:
    • 1.5 times the performance of the RTX 2070
    • Up to 90 frames per second at “super” 1440 pixels
  • GeForce RTX 3080:
    • Up to 16 GB GDDR6
    • More than 100 pictures per second at 1440 “ultra high definition” pixels

We’ll have to wait for laptop announcements and tests to see what these new graphics processors are really capable of. Nvidia appears to be focusing on defining QHD display, which is expected to become more popular on mobile this year.

Nvidia also announced that half of the laptops that will be equipped with the RTX 3000 chipset will have the right to 240Hz or more.

The first references are in prior order

We already find it Several RTX 3000 GPU-equipped references are available for pre-ordering on Cdiscount. Nvidia offers 12 months free Geforce Now for every purchase of a PC with a new GPU from the manufacturer.
