The Image Institute, a division of the Engineering College of Arts and Meters (ENSAM) in Cluny, is a team from the LISPEN Virtual Reality Lab based in Chalons-sur-Saône. The Master course 1 and 2 in “Digital Engineering” is offered to the “Management of 3D Interactive Technologies” (MTI3D) course, the aim of which is to train students in mastering all methods and tools of digital transformation (3D, virtual reality), that is, the deployment of technical solutions for virtual reality / Augmented Reality for the long term, as well as knowing how to adapt to the needs of users and contractors.

As part of this training, the Image Institute in partnership with Nicéphore Cité – Center for Digital Engineering, Grand Chalon conglomerate, UIMM, IUT of Chalon-sur-Saône and CNAM, is organizing, for the seventh time, a competition dedicated to its students and companies in Bourgogne Franche Comté: The Chal Challenge ‘ engeAM. The objective of this competition is multiple: (1) to strengthen the links between the academic world and the industrial world (2) to familiarize students with the challenges and requirements that will await them after their graduation, (3) to open new opportunities for economic companies through the use of digital technologies, and thus enhance the digital transition through these technologies. .

Chal’engeAM Challenge consists of an investigation within two weeks from January 13 to 26, 2021 demonstrating the participating companies. For this, students contacted the Bourgogne Franche Comté companies from the beginning of October 2020 to introduce the virtual / augmented reality tools and the capabilities that these tools provide, and set with them specifications that allow the perception of a demonstrator in the model to demonstrate the concept. The projects will be implemented in groups of students. It will be presented in a videoconference 1 on January 28, 2021 at 4 pm in front of a jury made up of companies and elected officials from Grand Chalon, with four prizes awarded at the end: the Economic Opportunity Award, the Power Award Condemnation, the Innovation Award and the Favorite Award.

The Chal’engeAM schedule is as follows:

  • From October 8, 2020: students contact companies in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region

  • From October to December 2020: Discover technologies, brainstorming sessions and define specifications with companies

  • January 13-26, 2021: Investigating students in groups for a designated participant
