SpaceX: Falcon 9 launches Dogecoin digital advertising screen into space

Whether it’s Jeff Bezos or Richard Branson – since 2021 at the latest, space is no longer a pure research objective. Private space companies are shooting the first space tourists, thus promoting the commercialization of the universe. Meanwhile, creative entrepreneurs are looking for new ways to tap into the endless playing field. This is also the case with the Canadian startup Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC), which in the future also wants to make its money through Hungarian advertising and uses SpaceX to take a digital billboard into orbit.

According to reports, GEC plans to transfer its so-called CubeSat satellite to the starry sky in 2022. Pixels versus Dogecoin – this is the motto of the new business model. Because on one side of the advertising satellite there is a digital screen, its content is permanently filmed on a selfie stick and broadcast on Twitch or YouTube. If you have the necessary change in encoder, you can have a pixel transmitting slot on an extraterrestrial display and set it to whatever you want. By purchasing five tokens, interested drummers can specify the position, appearance, and length of their pixel content broadcast. It is true that the project was fully funded and with effective media coverage in the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, which is why CubeSat was also referred to as Doge-1. In addition to the meme currency, customers can also use Ethereum as a payment method. There is currently no information available about the company’s pricing models.

Falcon 9 flies to the moon

GEC President Samuel Reed would like to make room for everyone as a platform, at the same time he hopes that people will not spend their money broadcasting offensive or offensive content on CubeSat. The startup approached space company Elon Musk with its idea in 2018, but the company initially did not take the unusual request seriously. Now the two companies seem to have reached an agreement. The plan is to load the CubeSat onto the Falcon 9 launcher, which is expected to fly a payload to the moon in the first quarter of 2022. On the way, the satellite will drop in a cube shape so that it will land in Earth’s orbit.
