Tools, greeting cards, Tibetan bells: 35 colorful years, the temple of smiles

Opened in Via Impriani in 1986, the store has expanded its offer over time and is still a reference point

Trieste In the ’80s and ’90s it was a temple of gadgets: from cute bachelorette party gifts to the craziest Christmas cards in the world, from scented pens to art posters. In Coloratissimo you can find everything, and today after the store celebrated 35 years of activity, the curiosity of customers entering the place via Imbriani remains unchanged.

It is undoubtedly one of the selling points that distinguished a generation. On Saturday afternoon, cruising from Tergesteo towards viale XX Settembre, the stop was almost obligatory in Colour, which surprised each time to suggest some new “devil”. Its strength has always been originality: even today it is impossible to enter this store and not be impressed by something. The spirit of this reality are Marina Maras and Fulvio Svirza, now surrounded by their collaborator Roberta. “Before the opening of Coloratissimo – says the merchant – we had the artisan’s workshop. We produced wooden items and furnishing accessories, in addition to selling them to Coin or Krizia, we also moved to different fairs. In this context, we met companies that made strange and funny things, and to show them we decided to open Coloratissimo ». The store opened its doors in 1986 and the success was immediate. Especially for young people, it becomes a reference, all the people of Trieste when they wanted to find something different, curious, they knew they could count on a colorist.

Ten years later, the lives of Fulvio and Marina take a mysterious turn. “We dedicate ourselves to meditation and yoga and also became a yoga teacher and a total operator of the sound of Tibetan bells and bells, and little by little, we added to the sale of items we had been dealing with in the store for years, including Tibetan bells for sound baths, incense, pashminas, capes, ethnic jackets and kaftans, in place of meditation cushions. In short, as we have always done, we moved our passion and choices between store shelves, and our customers have appreciated it.”

New offers, therefore, without depriving customers of the flagship Coloratissimo, like greeting cards: a store in Via Imbriani has one of the largest choices in Italy. “In 35 years, the relationship with our customers has been visibly strengthened, and it is motivating – as Marass admits – to collect the appreciation and appreciation they hold for us for our professionalism, for local dealers in general, for our desire to find every desired item, even if it is not available in-store in That moment, because with us, we always repeat, the slogan “se pol” ».

If once the bestsellers were gadgets (from cans that dance to the beat of music to pranks to celebrate someone’s retirement), today the gentlemen are greeting cards, salt lamps, or incense. “The ’80s and ’90s are good memories, but I don’t look back on that period with nostalgia – Marina concludes – because we are proud of every choice, every change and that we have come this far, with so many projects in the drawer to continue in a great way.”
