Town refuses to see Free Mobile towers take root and distort landscape

5G: The municipality refuses to see Free Mobile towers take root and distort the scene

Do not doubt the distortion of the landscape. Elected officials and residents mobilize to prevent the construction of three cell phone towers.

“Aesthetically, it wouldn’t be the best”, regrets to Serge Vito, a resident of Alouane, a village in the Pas-de-Calais department where three towers must be installed in the coming months for the deployment of 5G. Among them, TDF tower and two free towers. One of them, 32 meters high, must also be found in the middle of a forest, where Serge Vito looks out from his balcony. “This antenna will double the height of the poplar trees, 32 metres, you can see it from a distance”, he explains.

Serge Vito is not the only one who was upset about the arrival of three new 5G towers. Since the beginning of November, some residents, municipal council members and the mayor have stood against these projects, believing that they risk negatively impacting the landscape. In particular, the mayor made appeals to the commune community and to the province of Pas-de-Calais. A petition has been launched and can be signed at Town Hall.

Regarding one of the Freedom Towers, the mayor of Alwan does not utter his words. At the entrance to the city, we put this mess. This is not acceptable, we were only offered this project, of this dimension, nothing else, we cannot accept it”The Plague Andre Hennebel. The city council also believes that operators should be more transparent, especially in the face of citizens concerned about health risks. Municipal council member Hervé Lemont questions his role in the scale of the spread. “I am not sure that the needs of the residents here are related to all the antennas that will be installed”, he thinks.

These three towers will also join others already installed and used by SFR and recently equipped for 5G. However, a height of 15 meters makes the equipment more discreet and more acceptable to them. “But this one, so perfectly in the landscape and in the row of poplars, you can hardly distinguish it”, referring to Serge Vito.
