What there is no computer – Apple Talk magazine

For some time now, Apple has been touting the necessity for the iPad (Pro) to be the next computer. We asked about your current situation last week. As it turns out: That hope (apparently) did not extend beyond marketing.

Time and time again Apple tries to sell the iPad as the future. Not that from a Mac, after all, it would be uneconomical, but from a PC. Our survey last week showed: It’s clear that the iPad doesn’t even succeed in stealing butter from the computer.

The Mac is clearly on top, and so is the PC

We asked what your primary working tool is. The Mac laptop is clearly 33 percent ahead. Behind them are Macs steady at 30 percent – in our society, they’re both no wonder. Laptops make up 13 percent, and still computers make up 11. Is the iPad? After all, iPad Pro has nearly 10 percent, and other iPads only one percent, however, iPhone is 2 percent. By the way: Nobody, really nobody, ever uses iPod Touch.

It depends who you ask

Even if the poll sounds a little sarcastic and destructive, especially this time it depends on who you ask. Our community is an interesting but not representative part. What I can say about my environment: For less experienced users, an iPad (often) replaces a computer. And often even iPhone …
