Ukrainian citizens will receive air strike alerts directly on their Android smartphones. Google says it has been cooperating with the Ukrainian government to implement an alarm system for Android phones in the country that has been under Russian attack for more than two weeks. “Unfortunately, millions of people in Ukraine now rely on airstrikes. At the request of the Ukrainian government, we have begun implementing air strikes on Android smartphones in Ukraine.” Explains Kent Walker, Head of Global Affairs at Google, on the company’s website. “The initiative – he adds – is based on the replenishment of existing anti-aircraft warning systems in the country and warnings sent by the Ukrainian government”.
