The App Store generates about 87 percent more spend than Google Play

While the Apple App Store and Google Play both recorded nearly identical year-on-year growth of 30 percent, data shows that the App Store spent 87.3 percent more than Google Play.

The App Store recorded $ 72.3 billion in spending compared to $ 56 billion in 2019, while Google Play reached $ 39 billion in 2020, compared to $ 30 billion in 2019.

The first downloads in 2020 set a new record

There was also a record number of initial downloads for 2020, with Apple and Google Play collectively recording 143 billion downloads – an increase of 23.7 percent from 2019.
