An avalanche of new products at Apple. During a keynote speech that was recorded and broadcast on Tuesday, April 20 at 7 PM, Tim Cook played Santa Claus before the clock. In sixty minutes, watch by hand, the president of Apple has unveiled a new color (purple) for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini; Launch Air Tags (small bluetooth accessories inlaid with your keys to find them from your iPhone); New Apple TV 4K Box; iPad Pro is powerful, but above all is the new iMac. No, there are no new AirPods, it will be next time!
New look, new strength
No more PCs with round back and aluminum finishes: The iMac 2021 adopts a new design and starts with seven colors to choose from “to make all spaces pop,” says Apple. In addition to the color, which will now allow its iMac to match its decor, the new computer takes the form of an 11.5mm thick board, with no roundness at the back.
According to the manufacturer, this is made possible thanks to the home’s M1 chip. This promises to increase the speed by 85%. Already present on the MacBook Air, Pro, and Mini, the processor allowed Apple to completely reconfigure the internal architecture of the iMac. Hence the ingenuity on display. But not only: the new iMac is quieter at a sound level of under 10dB (almost inaudible).
Six amplifiers for sound reinforcement
The computer, which shows a 4.5K panel 24 inches (compared to the previous 23 inches) 11.3 million pixels (4480 x 2520), is also equipped with Apple’s True Tone system. This adapts the color of the displayed temperatures to the screen environment. Another novelty: a 1080p camera. Enough to improve the quality of video meetings!
But where we’re also expecting the new iMac, it’s on sound. Apple has already equipped its latest games with six speakers: two Amplifiers And one Loudspeaker On either side of the screen. And the sound system is compatible with Dolby Atmos. Very promising. Note that the computer has four USB-C sockets, an Ethernet jack (on the power supply unit), and a headphone jack. But this time the SD card slot disappears. The page turns … maybe a little premature.
The new iMac will be available at the end of May, and will be launched from 1,449 euros in 256 GB, and up to 1,899 euros in 512 GB. The cheapest models will offer only four colors (blue, green, pink and silver) versus seven for the most expensive (blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and purple) .
Apple, which saw a jump in Mac sales like other PC manufacturers (+ 111.5%) in 2020, especially thanks to the coronavirus crisis and the need for people to prepare themselves, should play a velvety role with the new iMacs. The M1 chip, widely acclaimed for its blazing speed, can still give color to the iMac 2021 sales.
