Companies Starting to Recruit and Prepare for Metaverse: Report

Multinational corporations and Indian companies are now turning to emerging technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and other metaverse-based systems for hiring and interviewing. While large multinational companies like Accenture and Microsoft have experimented with Metaverse for recruiting and onboarding, more companies are now beginning to use these technologies, Tech Circle reported.

The Accenture platform, called the Nth Floor, is built on the Microsoft Mesh app, a mixed reality platform that allowed people to deliver “shared experiences” from different devices. The ninth floor was used by the company for holding training sessions, sharing presentations, and even socializing.

Microsoft added in a blog post that the onboarding process “involves bringing groups of new hires and senior executives together in an office for a series of experiences that help people understand and connect with Accenture’s corporate culture personally, sow the seeds of professional relationships and prepare them for success, from their projects.” First.

While the Nth floor was built ahead of the platform, the proliferation of Zoom calls and remote meetings has necessitated the development of similar platforms and mechanisms for many other companies since the start of the pandemic.

PwC’s Virtual Park and Meta Horizon Workroom are just two of the other platforms being built by global giants to combine the Metaverse with the desktop experience. But Indian companies have also started buying up the idea in recent months.

Incluson, a Mumbai-based skills and recruitment platform, has sought to move its recruitment process into the metaverse, for example. “India is currently in the early stages of adopting the metaverse, particularly in HR practices. While the potential is huge, companies considering the transition are investing in research and development (R&D) and backend process development,” said Naveen Junger, co-founder. India is no stranger to embracing the latest technologies, especially the many startups that eventually turn into unicorns in the country. Experts believe that many companies will incorporate Metaverse recruitment and onboarding into their business operations, especially as telecommuting and hybrid work remain popular. However, the main hurdle is still access to the hardware needed to get the Metaverse experience. These include devices such as AR/VR headsets, cameras, and trackers for presentation in the MR space.
