Leon. A computer is stolen from an apartment, and the neighbor calls the police

Wednesday, June 19, 2024 At 4:10 p.m., police were called to a break-in at an apartment located on Rue Juliette-Curie, at 5H Lyon area. It was a neighbor who witnessed the incident who raised the alarm and provided a description of the suspect as he fled towards Pointe du Jour.

Caught on the street

After his description was used, police found and arrested the person a few hundred meters away, on Edmund Lockard Street. A tear gas grenade was found in his possession, as well as a laptop that had recently been stolen from the apartment.

The victim then told police he was alerted by his neighbor's screams while in the common areas. He then rushed into his living room and surprised the intruder, with the latter using tear gas to facilitate his escape.

While in police custody, the suspect, a 30-year-old homeless man known negatively to the police, denied the facts, stating that he had purchased the computer from a private individual. For his part, the apartment resident filed a complaint and submitted a medical certificate stating the day of ITT. On Friday, June 21, the suspect was presented to the Lyon Public Prosecutor's Office for immediate appearance.
