Nintendo: The Most Popular Mario Game Goes “Free” on Switch!

While we’ve been waiting recently for the supposed release of new old games from NES and SNES on the Nintendo Switch, good news has emerged: it’s not just three somewhat unexpected games that have appeared, but two others including one of the most famously Mario.

  • Notes: All of these games are available for free to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Additional package is not required.

With the publication of Maintenance for NES and SNES Dedicated Applications on the night of Wednesday, March 30 to Thursday, March 31 (02:55 to 04:00), several games from these consoles have been added to the Nintendo Switch catalog expansion. It’s not really a surprise, as we expected, but the identity of the games in question was not yet known when we mentioned this possibility.

But while it was originally believed that only three games were added, which are neither the most anticipated nor the most interesting according to some old school gamers, some interesting news has surfaced recently: two other games have been released at the same time, notably the famous Super Mario World, in a version special please!

The list of new games added on Thursday, January 31, 2022 is as follows:

  • Earthworm C 2
  • digging digging II
  • Mapy Land
  • Super punch!! (championship version)
  • Super Mario World (Special Edition)

Two old school special editions

In the Super Punch-Out Championship!! Players not only have the possibility to choose any circuit and any character, but also and above all a completely new circuit called “Special Circuit”. This is usually only available to players who have completed all available episodes in the game and allows them to face up to four new boxers:

  • Prince Narcissus
  • Howie Quarlow
  • Rick Browser
  • Nick Broeser

On the Super Mario World side, the Special Edition introduces an all-new version of Dinosaur Land after completing the Ninth World: Special World. The description of the game states that you “noted that some things are a little different from the way you remember them”…
