Volunteers of the Rovach Cancer Control League will organize in the surrounding areas on Sunday 19 September 5e An edition by Gourmet Bike, in partnership with the Union cycliste de la Plaine de l’Ill in Oberhergheim. This event attracts several hundred cyclists each year, eager to discover a route that combines landscape and gastronomy. This 2021 edition should not be an exception to the rule. The 32-kilometer walk will already take participants between a plain and vineyards, passing through Rouffach, Pfaffenheim, Westhalten and Bergholtz.
A pleasant circuit punctuated by five gastronomic and delightful stages, where you can savor caramant and pretzels, pie en croute, raw vegetables with a glass of pinot gris, Basque chicken, vegetables, rice, with a glass of pinot noir, a variety of cheeses with a glass of gewurztraminer, Finally, witch candy and coffee. It is also possible to choose a vegetarian menu upon reservation.
Departures will be from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, every twenty minutes, in groups of 30. Two guides will supervise each group. “Participants will have to bring a good bike, wear a helmet, and equip them with a backpack so they can store their own cutlery and towels, because the goal of this trip is to be both touristic and ecological,” defines association president, Huguette Voegtlin. in 4e In the release, the focus was on a sustainable development approach, with the help of a group of young people responsible for raising awareness among participants about refreshment points. This event will also allow, as in previous years, to raise funds that will make it possible to finance the actions related to Ligue contre le cancer du Haut-Rhin. In fact, the association regularly funds patient well-being equipment, or co-finances equipment for oncology services in the area. In all, since the establishment of the association in 2008, nearly 200,000 euros have been paid for various works.
Despite the lack of funding in 2020 due to the cancellation of several events, four anti-decubitus mattresses were acquired in order to equip patients’ beds in palliative care at Rovash Hospital Centre. “At the communal hospital in Soultz-Issenheim, we helped fund a relaxation lounge for families and relatives of people at the end of their lives, and at the Ribeauvillé Hospital, we funded aromatherapy products and equipment used for well-being. Finally, three virtual reality headsets were funded to increase the well-being of the people,” says the president Patients at home for the mobile palliative care team.
