Samsung Galaxy Smarttag finds the missing tools

In late 2020, Samsung launched Smartthings Find, a new way to find Galaxy devices, be it phones or headphones. With the little Galaxy Smarttag that Samsung has now launched, this opportunity will also benefit other gadgets.

The washer itself is a small square tool with rounded edges and a slot to easily attach to a keychain, bag handle, pet collar, or other items you want attention to. You can then track the badge using your phone and the Smartthings app. Since the washer itself is disconnected, it depends on the proximity of the phone to be able to report its location. Therefore, the website reports work the same way a pair of Galaxy Buds do. The Smartthings app can tell you when and where the badge was last connected to your phone, but if you lose a gadget, you can report it lost, other Galaxy phones can also anonymously and without the user’s notice, report the gadget’s location so that you are notified through the Smartthings app.

Requires Samsung phone

In order to help another user find a missing Smarttag, that user must have a Samsung phone, have the Smartthings app installed and the feature activated.

If you are near the plateau, you can search for it by phone, and graphics will appear on the screen to indicate that you are approaching the respective instrument. Moreover, you can press a button on the phone screen to make the sign play a signal so that you can find it more easily. Smarttag’s battery life should be around 300 days, depending on how often you use the features and when the battery is running out, it’s easy to replace. It is of the standard type and you can open the sticker by yourself and replace the battery when the time is up.

The button can control other things

The button on the tray itself means you can also use the tray to control smart home functions. This is done via bluetooth LE and requires you to have a Smartthings Hub. If you have it, you can set it up so that you can control everything you can control in your home, even with the help of Smarttag. This way, you can, for example, open the garage door upon entering the plot using the button on the Smarttag.

The Galaxy Smarttag is being sold for 350 SEK in one package, but you can also buy several of them at once. For the two-piece box you have to pay 600 kronor and a set of four coins costs 1000 kr. Those who pre-book the Galaxy S21 can purchase the Smarttag with headphones for only 99 SEK.
