JAKARTA – Tesla has been rolling out the latest version of its Supervised Self-Driving (FSD) feature, version 12.5, for the past few weeks. However, the feature is only available for cars equipped with the latest HW4 computer. Despite promising to launch the car with HW3 this week, CEO Elon Musk said his team is “still working” on it.

The statement comes about two weeks after the company began the broad release of FSD v12.5.1 and after Musk explained that the new release would first target the HW4-equipped Model Y before being rolled out more widely. Musk also said on July 29 that the estimated release time for FSD Supervised v12.5 for the HW3 vehicle was about 10 days, meaning it would have been released on Thursday if it had been on schedule.
During the Teslarati launch on August 12, Tesla's CEO also provided some context on why it took so long to release FSD v12.5 on the HW3, as well as why this version has five times more settings than the previous version:
“It took a lot of programming effort to optimize the code so that it could run on HW3,” Musk said. “This also needs to be validated separately.”
Although the Cybertruck has HW4, FSD Supervised is still not available in any capacity in an electric vehicle (EV), although it is expected to be released with version 12.5.
