Update on progress on a 4G mobile top-up project in rural Scotland

The Scottish governmentIt is £28.75 million 4G Infill (S4GI), which through WHP Telecoms aims to improve mobile and broadband voice coverage by building new masts (mainly by addressing vulnerabilities across highlands and islands), has updated progress to confirm that 27 of the 55 planned The masts have been turned on.

Mobile operators, including WhichAnd the O2 (VMO2) and VodafoneHave already agreed to provide a 4G Service across many new masts locations once built. By the summer of 2023, the program is expected to have delivered up to 55 masts in rural Scotland. All of this would help complete the £1 billion Common Rural Network (SRN), which aims to expand 4G mobile network coverage in the UK to 95% by the end of 2025. Not to mention 10Mbps+ Comprehensive service commitment (USO) for broadband, which often amounts to a 4G fix.
