Popular Apple’s glasses may be self-cleaning, according to a recently granted patent issue 11,327,316 – for “particle control on a head-mountable device”. This relates to either the Mixed Reality headset or the Apple Glass glasses that are coming a little later. This is according to Tim Cook, #TheNextBigThing.
Description of Apple Glass
In the patent, the tech giant gives an accurate description of its future eyeglasses. Indicates that the user can wear the device to display visual information in the user’s field of view. The head-mountable device can be used as a virtual reality (VR) system, augmented reality (AR) system, and/or a mixed reality (MR) system.
The user may notice the outputs provided by the device, such as the visual information presented on the screen. The screen may optionally allow the user to monitor the external environment. Other outputs provided by the device may include a speaker and/or haptic feedback.
The user may also interact with the headset by providing inputs that are processed by one or more components. For example, the user can provide touch inputs, voice commands, and other inputs when the device is placed on the user’s head.
Self-cleaning device?
However, as with all electronic devices, Apple Glass will collect dust and visibility will be affected. Naturally, Apple doesn’t want that to happen.
company solution : An optical unit that removes and captures particles in the field of view so that they do not interfere with the user’s vision of and/or through the visual elements. For example, the display element and/or another visual element can be moved around to edit the particles.
The photovoltaic unit may include a retention system that securely retains particles so that they remain out of the optical path. Movement can be performed periodically, based on user input, based on conditions detected by an internal sensor, and/or based on conditions detected by an external device.
According to Apple, particle removal and retention can improve and maintain the quality of a user’s viewing experience.
Here is a summary of the patent filed by Apple:
A head-mountable device may provide an optical unit that removes particles from the optical path and captures particles so that they do not interfere with the user’s vision of and/or through optical elements. For example, the display element and/or another optical element can be moved to edit particles on a display surface from it.
The optical module may include a particle retaining element that securely retains particles so that they remain outside the optical path. This particle removal and retention can improve and maintain the quality of the user’s visual experience through the visual unit.
When will we see Apple Glass?
As for Apple Glass, or at least the first version that will be a full helmet, such a device will arrive at the end of 2022 or 2023, according to the latest information. Apple Glass may need to connect to your iPhone to work, and it will come with a custom chip and a custom operating system called “rOS” for “realistic operating system.”
