Tile works with Lenovo to help find your lost laptop

Nobody likes to misplace expensive gadgets, especially not a laptop. If you are considering getting one of the recently announced Lenovo ThinkPad X1s, this is good news. Tile and Lenovo are teaming up to make PCs findable from the Tile app, even when laptops are offline.

This is Tile’s second collaboration with an embedded computer – the first was with HP. For compatible Lenovo laptops, the list includes the 10th Gen X1 Carbon, the 7th Gen X1 Yoga, and the 2nd Gen X1 Nano. To enable the feature, download and install the Tile app on Windows from the Microsoft Store.

From there, activate the ThinkPad as if it were a file Keep track of tiles. Once you’re done, if you’ve misplaced your new laptop, you can find it using the Tile app for iOS or Android.

The advantage is that the laptop remains findable even if it is turned off or not connected to the Internet for 14 days. However, since he acts like one tracker From tiles, there are some limitations. One of Tile’s most useful features is ringing your lost device. You can also do this with Lenovo computers, except that the device must be within the Bluetooth range, which is 80 meters. If you’re outside of that range, Tile says you can view the latest location or “get secure help from the Tile global network.”

You may have to wait

The Tile network works similarly to Apple’s Find My network, in that it relies on other nearby Tile devices to find a device out of range. It’s not quite as efficient, since there aren’t as many Tile users as iPhone users (for what it’s worth, Tile says Find My with Tile has grown to more than 40 different third-party devices).

Either way, if this is a feature you want, you’ll have to wait a bit. Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X1s won’t be available until March, And Backward squares integration is not compatible with older ThinkPads. This is probably not the main reason why you want a new ThinkPad, but at least this feature is free.
