At the entertainment center, we learn while having fun

On Tuesday, February 22, the Nelson Mandela Leisure Center welcomed speakers from the Lez Basin Regional Public Corporation (SYBLE). During the day, several workshops were carried out on the theme of water, in particular with a giant interactive model where children were equipped with full immersion masks. This virtual reality movie evokes the floods and their consequences for the Lez catchment area. The immersive and educational video makes it possible to realize the effects of heavy rain at the edge of the Mediterranean and offers tips on how to avoid dangerous situations in times of heavy flooding. Views were taken deliberately in sectors very characteristic of Montpellier and its surroundings, at Lez, from its source at Saint-Clément-de-Rivière to its mouth at the Palavas-les-Flots, and on its main tributary, the Mossons. The children, very engaged, loved the cartoon, and while having fun, they were told about the gestures that can save people in case of flooding, and they learned a large number of tricks to conserve water resources. As for the teenagers, some of them participated in a film cycle with director Gloria Rodnas (see free lunch 2 March), and others on a road safety course under the Law of the Road or on a course for Brevet d’aptitudes aux jobs d’animators (Bafa). In short, lively and educational holidays.
